MooglyCAL2023 – Block 6
MooglyCAL2023 Block 6 is a lovely, floral, center-out square, courtesy of Hooked For Life Publishing! The Framed Carnation Square features tons of texture, and lots of color opportunities! This is part of the 2023 Moogly Crochet Along.
Mary Beth’s square is 3D without being weighty or thick – the light and loopy flower jumps right up at you! I love the combination of floral and geometric found here. Mary Beth’s pattern is easy to follow, and a joy to make.

- Helpful Links and Tutorials: Magic Circle, Standing Single Crochet, Standing Double Crochet, Front Loop Only and Back Loop Only, Chainless Starting Double Crochet, Crab Stitch, Twisted Single Crochet, and Seamless Finishing.
- Sizing: Measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
- Materials Used: Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love.
Color Placement Scheme
- Rnds 1 – 7: White
- Rnds 8 – 11: Light Gray
- Rnds 12 – 15: Pewter
- Rnds 16 and 17: White
This square required mild blocking. I used the wet blocking method, or you could use light steam.
