Round 1: Make a magic circle, ch 2 (does not count as a st here and throughout), work 12 dc in the ring; join with a sl st to first dc. (12 sts)

Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st; join. (24 sts)

Round 3: Ch 2, 2 dc in the 1st st, fpdc in the next st, *2 dc in the next st, fpdc in the next st; repeat from * around, join. (36 sts)

Round 4: Ch 2, 2 dc in the 1st st, dc in the next st, fpdc in the next st, *2 dc in the next st, dc in the next st, fpdc in the next st; repeat from * around, join. (48 sts)

Round 5: Ch 2, 2 dc in the 1st st, dc in the next 2 sts, fpdc in the next st, *2 dc in the next st, dc in the next 2 sts, fpdc in the next st; repeat from * around, join. (60 sts)

Wrapper #1 

Row 1: Ch 2, dc in the first 33 sts (remaining sts left unworked); turn. (33 sts)

Row 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in the 1st st, dc in each st until 1 st remains, 2 dc in last st; turn. (35 sts)

Rows 3 – 12: Repeat Row 2, increasing by 2 sts each row. (Row 12: 55 sts)

Row 13: Ch 2, 3 dc in the 1st st, sc in next st, *skip the next st, 5 dc in the next st, skip the next st, sc in the next st; repeat from * until 1 st remains, 3 dc in the last st, break yarn. (13 5-dc shells, 2 half shells)

Wrapper #2

Row 1: Join to the st on the opposite side of the blanket from the 1st st of Wrapper #1, Row 1; ch 2, dc in the same st as join, dc in the next 32 sts (remaining sts left unworked); turn. (33 sts)

Row 2 – 13: Repeat Wrapper #1 Rows 2 – 13, do not break yarn.

Border: Ch 1, sc evenly around entire blanket, working as follows across the shells of the wrappers: skip the sc sts between the shells, add an extra sc in the center dc of each shell; join and break yarn.
